Zexion knew Akiha primarily through Akiha's relationship with Axel. Shortly before he left, though, Akiha was involved in Zexion trapping the various hospital-phobic morons he lives with in Ayame's shop and subjecting them to Umeda's tender care.

Not a close relationship, really, but Zexion would remember him with a vague sense of gratitude.
